The Capricorn full moon arrives at 1:36pm PT on July 10th with Luna at 18* Capricorn and Sol at 18* Cancer.

During this full moon, the nurturing light of the Cancer sun is being reflected to its fullest potential by the moon in structured Capricorn. This opposition reminds me that the current systems that structure and govern society are at odds with our basic needs of comfort and safety. Yet these two signs being in the same axis also reminds me that there is a world available to us in which this can be resolved.

Recently, I asked listeners of the podcast to send in questions about Tarot, astrology, or spirituality in general that I can answer in the opening segment of Past Present Futurecast. Here’s my response to the question I picked this week: “Is summer magic different from spring, winter, and fall. How so? Should my magical practice look different in each season?”

It’s the very last day of June as I’m recording this which means that we just crossed over the threshold into the summer season here in the northern hemisphere. The summer solstice was just 10 days ago on June 20th so the changing of the seasons is certainly on my mind right now. 

On September 1 2024, Pluto re-entered Capricorn for the very last time in our lifetime (and the lifetimes of a few generations after us). Capricorn is associated with The Devil in Tarot. This card invites us to interrogate the people, places, things, attitudes, and beliefs that require us to give away our personal power, often through fear.

As the days get shorter and we spend more time in darkness, we may find that it’s easier to spot the monsters and beasts that lurk in the shadows of our inner realms. We all have parts of ourselves that we try desperately to keep out of our external personality, relegating them to the shadows of our internal world.
